Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply force to the end of the lever it tends to rotate the fulcrum to the direction of the applied force. The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines the distance the lever can be moved. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The more the lever is extended more, the greater the mechanical advantage. Levers can also have a variety of effects based on how the forces are applied. A class 2 lever, for example has a tendency of rotating in the opposite direction when the force of the effort is applied. This is accomplished by the 'pad'-shaped external handle that locks in the gap between the handles and the lock case to prevent the latch from being removed or the door opened.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks that employ split spindle mechanisms. This kind of operation requires the internal lever handle and the external pad handle to be installed on the same lock case. It consists of two inline handles that move and can be locked using either a key or a thumbturn cylinder on the inside. Pad handles can be used as a substitute to lever handles.
